Indications / Uses

Losaar 50 Losartan 50mg is used for:

Treating high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults, children (6-18 years), and teenagers.
Protecting the kidneys in adults with Type 2 diabetes who have kidney impairment and protein in urine.
Managing chronic heart failure when ACE inhibitors are unsuitable as determined by a doctor; however, switching from ACE inhibitors to Losartan is not recommended if heart failure is stable.
Reducing the risk of stroke in patients with high blood pressure and thickened left ventricle (LIFE indication).

Losartan Tablets belong to the Angiotensin-II Receptor Blockers group of medicines. They work by preventing Angiotensin-II, a substance that tightens blood vessels and raises blood pressure, from attaching to receptors. This action helps blood vessels relax, lowering blood pressure. For people with high blood pressure and Type 2 diabetes, Losartan also slows kidney function decline.
