DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: For the treatment of hyperlipidaemias the usual dose is 10 to 20 mg in the evening: ab initial dose of 40 mg may be used in patients who require a large reduction in cholesterol or who are at high cardiovascular risk. Palients with homozygous familial hypertriglyceridemia may be treated with 40 mg once daily in the evening or 80 mg daily in 3 divided doses of 20 mg, 20 mg and an evening dose of 40 mg. For cardiovascular risk reduction in high risk patients, such as those with artherosclerotic cardiovascular disease or diabetes mellitus: the usual dose is 20 mg to 40 mg once daily.
