Indications / Uses
Losaar 50 Losartan 50mg is used for:- Treating high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults, children (6-18 years), and teenagers.
- Protecting the kidneys in adults with Type 2 diabetes who have kidney impairment and protein in urine.
- Managing chronic heart failure when ACE inhibitors are unsuitable as determined by a doctor; however, switching from ACE inhibitors to Losartan is not recommended if heart failure is stable.
- Reducing the risk of stroke in patients with high blood pressure and thickened left ventricle (LIFE indication).
Losartan Tablets belong to the Angiotensin-II Receptor Blockers group of medicines. They work by preventing Angiotensin-II, a substance that tightens blood vessels and raises blood pressure, from attaching to receptors. This action helps blood vessels relax, lowering blood pressure.
