Cetirizine CETIREX-LD 2.5mg/mL Syrup (Oral Drops) 15mL
FORMULATION: Each ml. contains: Cetirizine hydrochloride, USP 2.5mg
DOSAGE AND MODE OF ADMINISTRATION: Age Group Dosage Infant 6 to 12 months 1 ml (2.5 mg) once daily Children 12 months to 2 years old 1 ml (2.5 mg once or twice a day (12 hourly) Children 2-5 years old 2 ml 5 mg once daly or 1 ml (2.5 mg) twice a day (12 hour Or as prescribed by the physician.
INDICATIONS: It is used for the symptomatic relief of allergic conditions including rhinitis and chronic urticaria. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Some interactions are less likely with cetirizine than with non-sedating antihistamines such as astemizole and terfenadine, since cetirizine appears to have low hepatic metabolism and little arrhythmogenic potential.
ADVERSE EFFECTS AND PRECAUTIONS: Cetirizine lacks significant sedative effect. Patients should however, be warned that a small number of individuals may experience sedation. It is therefore advisable to determine individual response before driving or performing complicated task. This effect may be compounded by the simultaneous intake of alcohol or other central nervous system depressants. There have been occasional reports of mild and transient subjective adverse effect such as headache, dizziness. drowsiness, agitation, dry mouth, increased appetite, nervousness. fatigue, asthenia, malaise, nausea and gastro-intestinal discomfort. In some individuals, hypersensitivity reactions including skin reactions, urticaria, pruritus and angioedema may develop
