Lactated Ringer’s Solution for IV Infusion
DESCRIPTION:
Lactated Ringer’s Solution is a sterile, non-pyrogenic intravenous fluid used to replace fluids and electrolytes in the body. It contains a balanced mixture of sodium, potassium, calcium, chloride, and lactate, which helps restore fluid volume and maintain normal electrolyte balance. The lactate is metabolized by the liver into bicarbonate, helping correct mild metabolic acidosis. It is commonly supplied in single-dose IV containers.
USES:
- For fluid and electrolyte replacement
- Treatment of dehydration
- Used in shock, trauma, burns, and blood loss
- Helps maintain blood volume during surgery
- Management of metabolic acidosis (mild cases)
- Used as a rehydration solution for IV infusion
